About us
Higher Heights School has taught children in Maya since September 2015. A child can join us at the creche and go all the way through to their final school exams — which means that, by the time those exams come, we will have known them for years.
Most schools nearby stop at Primary Six. Here your child does not have to start again somewhere new at eleven, with teachers who do not know them yet.
Maya is growing quickly, and many of our families arrived in the last two or three years. If you have just moved into the area, you can walk in this week and see a normal school day — not a display put on for visitors.
We keep our classes from getting crowded, so every child gets real attention and is known by name.
Government approved. We enter our own pupils for the Primary School Leaving Certificate, BECE, WAEC and NECO.
Higher Heights opened in September 2015 and has taught children in Maya ever since, growing quietly year by year.
When your children and wards are with us, they are safe. There is one gate, watched through the day, and a child is released only to the person you have named. You can leave them here and go about your day without worrying.

Foundation for Future Stars
Faith and character
Higher Heights School was founded on the word of God in September 2015, and that is still how the school is run. The day opens with assembly and prayer at 7:45am, and Bible knowledge is taught as a subject through the school. Children of other faiths are welcome and are never made to feel out of place.
Our schools
Your child can join at any stage and stay to the end. We follow the age structure in the National Policy on Education, so they move up at the right time and finish secondary school at the standard age.
Stage one
Babies and toddlers, cared for closely all day. Feeding, nappies and naps follow the routine your child already has at home — tell us what it is and we keep to it.
Stage two
Nursery One at three, Nursery Two at four, Kindergarten at five. Your child learns letters, numbers, and how to sit and listen — the three things Primary One asks for on the first day.
Stage three
Primary One begins at six and runs the full six years, ending with the Primary School Leaving Certificate. Pupils who finish here move straight into our own JSS 1 — no new entrance exam, no new school run.
Stage four
JSS 1 starts at twelve, after six full years of primary. Three years to the BECE, then SS 1 at fifteen and three more years to WAEC and NECO. Students finish at seventeen, the standard age, so university plans are not held up.

Yes, where there is a place. Bring the last report card from the old school. [We assess in English and Mathematics and place your child in the class that fits, not simply the next one up.]

New to Maya
Families move into this area every day, and most of our new pupils come from another school. Here is exactly what that looks like, so you can judge it before you call.
A short assessment in English and Mathematics tells us where your child actually is. We place them where they will cope, and say so plainly if that is a class below.
Our uniform is white and grey with a red tie, and can be worn from the second week while it is being made.
School life
There is more to a week here than lessons. Children join the Science Club, Home Economics, the Drama Club and the Journalist Club, and the year is marked by inter-house sports and our speech and prize giving day.
